December Championship season kicks off this weekend when the Triangle Aquatic Center hosts the 2020 YOTA 18&U Winter Championship. USA Swimming’s Winter Junior Nationals event has gone virtual this year as qualified athletes swim locally between December 1-13 to post their best time for each qualified event. Thirty teams from across North Carolina are coming to TAC this weekend with nearly 300 total athletes to swim for these times against high-level competition. Each day Friday through Sunday features a morning Prelim session for the top qualified athletes, an afternoon Timed Finals session for those athletes with less then the Junior National cut in an event, and then a evening Finals session for the top swimmers from the morning Prelims.
As with our other events during the phased reopening due to the pandemic, several important restrictions do apply for this meet. Only active swimmers, coaches and meet personnel are permitted inside TAC. There are no spectators permitted for this event. Our parking lots surrounding our Facility will be closed to all traffic – please park in the new South Parking Lot or at Cary Towne Center. All swimmer drop off and pickup should us the drop off/pickup lane ONLY. This meet will also feature TAC vendors and sponsors including Poolside Grill, Jolyn, Smart Athlete, Blended Light Photography and Northwest Designs.
