Triangle Aquatic Center Executive Summary

TAC Wave

Triangle Aquatics front building The vision for the Triangle Aquatic Center originated on May 6, 2002 at a meeting attended by a small group of swimming parents with a passion to provide clean, quality year-round aquatic facilities for their children to swim and compete in. These humble beginnings evolved into one of the most successful grass roots community aquatic projects in the country.

Five and a half years from the initial meeting to discuss the severe lack of year-round public aquatic facilities in the Triangle, the TAC Board, Corporate Sponsors, Strategic Partners and over 1,000 individual donors celebrated the opening of the largest year-round public aquatic facility in North Carolina on October 28, 2007. This public aquatic facility will serve the health, safety, recreation and competition needs of the Triangle's one million residents with plenty of room to expand aquatic facilities on the campus to meet the Triangle's growing population.

TAC Mission
To build and operate public aquatic facilities
For the health, safety, recreation and competition needs
Of Triangle citizens and aquatic organizations

TAC's first project, a 72,000 sf aquatic facility houses three separate pools, including a 50-meter competition pool, a ten lane 25-yard program pool and a warm water instruction pool. Supporting amenities include a full service cafe, aquatic store, spectator seating for 1,000, oversized men's and women's locker rooms, a classroom and future fitness area. The facility is ideally located on 21.5 wooded acres adjacent to the Cary Towne Center and just off I-40 at Exit 291.

100% of the money to build this $22.5 million public aquatic facility was raised by Triangle citizens, for Triangle citizens without any tax funding. Currently, less than half of the income to operate the aquatic facility comes from fees. The balance is being funded by donations, Corporate Sponsorships and advertising. Please join TAC and become part of something special in the community. Become part of a mission to build public aquatic facilities throughout the Triangle that will create a legacy of health, safety, recreation and competition aquatic programming in order to "Make A Splash in the Triangle Communities"
